After Your Appointment

How to look after your new Ink or Removal!

After getting your perfect new brows, it’s time to make sure you know how to look after them so you get the best healed results possible!

Immediately after the treatment, the colour will be stronger than the desired end result and your brows can feel tender and swollen with redness around them. This is perfectly normal and the irritation should calm down within an hour or two.

Over the next 7-10 days please:

  • Do not touch your brows, especially within the first couple of days as the skin is open and at risk of
    infection.
  • Do your best to keep them away from water. Keep your face out of water in the shower and head back when washing your hair. If you accidentally get your brows wet it is important that you do not rub them dry with a towel! Take a clean tissue and gently pat them dry.
  • Do not put any creams, ointments and especially not Vaseline on your brows while they are healing.
  • Unless you were specifically provided with a cream and instructions to use it by a member of Bella-Perm staff, dry healing is best.
  • Do not pick, scratch, rub or peel the scabs and dry skin that forms on your brows as they heal.
  • Avoid exercise that will cause you to sweat.
  • Do not put make-up on your brows.
  • Do not use sunbeds or sunbathe for at least 2-4 weeks after the procedure.
  • Avoid getting any facials, swimming, or saunas for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.

The next couple of days after your treatment you may notice your brows start gradually appearing darker as scabs begin to form. It is perfectly normal to feel like they look too strong at this stage but do not worry, they will fade.

Once they start to peel it can sometimes look like there are gaps or that pigment is missing but trust the process and give your skin time. It takes 4-6 weeks for your brows to fully heal inside and pigment to settle - only then can we judge the end results.

After this healing period, it the brows are too light, a little patchy, or your simply want to make some adjustments to the colour and the shape, it is time to book your touch up if you have not done so already.

And if you are ever in doubt about anything, it’s best to get in touch - we are always here to help! Remember we want those brows to be perfect as much as you do!

After getting your perfect new set of lips, it’s time to make sure you know how to look after them so you get the best healed results possible!

Immediately after the treatment, the colour will be stronger than the desired end result and your lips can feel tender and swollen with redness around them. There can also sometimes be slight bruising on your lips. Rest assured this is perfectly normal and the irritation should calm down within an hour or two.

Here’s how to look after those fresh lips:

  • This might sound strange but do not brush your teeth after. You can brush them very gently the next day.
  • Avoid spicy or very hot food for the first 3 days. We also recommend drinking all liquids through a straw and choosing easy to bite foods. We want to limit the irritation and contamination as much as possible.

  • Do not lick, touch, or pick your lips or the scabs and dry skin that forms as they heal. keep the area clean and free of make-up while your lips are fresh and peeling.

  • Do not use sunbeds or sunbathe for at least 2-4 weeks after the procedure.

  • Avoid getting any facials, swimming, or saunas for at least 2 weeks after the procedure.

  • Only use a cream provided or recommended by a member of Bella-Perm on your lips. We recommend Bepanthen cream and you can get it at your local Boots or pharmacy. You can use it as needed. We would generally recommend 3 times a day.

  • If you are prone to cold sores there is a high chance you will get one on the 3rd day after your procedure. If this happens it is very important that you keep the aftercare cream away from the cold sore area so you do not spread it across the whole surface of your lips. If you are a smoker, you must be extra careful not to spread it.

Your lips will look like you have lipstick on for the first few days but after they peel and flake in about a week the colour will be much more subtle and natural. Keep in mind that it takes around 8 weeks to fully heal and pigment to settle on the inside. During this time the pigment mixes with the natural tones of
your lips.

After this healing period, it the colour is too light, a little patchy, or you would like to adjust the shade, it is time to book your touch up if you have not done so already. We generally recommend a touch-up between 8-12 weeks after your first pigmentation for best results.

And if you are ever in doubt about anything, it’s best to get in touch - we are always here to help!

Remember we want those brows to be perfect as much as you do!

FAQ

Permanent Make-Up (PMU for short) is a form of highly specialised cosmetic tattoo where artists simulate the look of conventional make-up. This long lasting treatment is most commonly used for eyeliner, eyebrows, and lips.

There are many other names and techniques when it comes to PMU. You might have seen or heard of Micropigmentation, Microblading, Embrowdery, Phi Brows, Powder Brows, Lip Blushing and many many more. All of these involve depositing coloured pigments into the skin to create the make-up look you desire.

Here in Bella-Perm, our technique of choice is Micropigmentation, which uses a machine and precision needle. Using the highest quality pigments available, this technique allows us to achieve different styles of PMU and cater to all skin types. It is also the least traumatic to your skin.

Everyone can! From the young to the more mature, anyone who desires a soft and natural enhancement to their appearance.

Depending on the skin type, technique, area and pigments, the result can last from 1 to 3 years.
These procedures are considered permanent since the pigments are intradermal and can’t be washed off.  The treatment may be re-enhanced in touch-up visits . Many factors such as sun, frequent exfoliation, retinol products, and skin condition can influence the durability of the treatment.

The sensation can differ from client to client. Some clients report a tingling or pinching sensation while others may experience slightly more discomfort similar to waxing or tweezing hairs. The client's sensitivity is greatly reduced with the use of topical anaesthetic throughout the treatment.

Your first appointment usually takes about two hours, with a significant portion of the treatment dedicated to your initial consultation. This includes selecting the appropriate colour for your skin, as well as measuring, shaping and sketching your new brows. Touch Up appointments are significantly quicker, and take between 1 hour and 1.5 hours.

It's Free! Our 30 minute complimentary consultation is designed to cover all the informational aspects of any of the treatments you are thinking of getting, as well as answer all your questions. You can also bring a friend at no additional charge!

We generally advise against it but it is sometimes possible, it depends on the treatments you are getting done. Please contact us prior to booking!

For most people the answer is no. Since delicate skin or sensitive areas may swell slightly or redden, some clients feel it best not to make major social plans for a few days following any procedure. Be prepared for the color intensity of our procedure to be significantly sharper, brighter or darker than what is expected for the final outcome. It takes time for this transition, based on how quickly the outer layer of your skin exfoliates to reveal the softer color that will remain.

Please read the "before your appointment" section above for the treatment you are considering for all relevant information.

Small shape and colour adjustments can be made, but bigger changes will require laser removal. It's best to book in for a free consultation and we can take a look at your PMU and what can be done.

Your old PMU can only be covered up of the previous work is very light and not applied too deep.
If you are wanting to lighten or remove your previous work then please take a look at our tattoo removal services and find how we can help you.

If you want to change your lip shade for the day simply put lipstick over it. Most lipsticks act like a “cover stick”, so you can even put a lighter shade (opaque) over your darker permanent color. If you want to permanently change your permanent full lip color that may be possible as well, depending on the color and condition of your lips. However because it is permanent, many women choose to have a more natural look and dress it up with traditional makeup for a more dramatic evening look.

SMP (or scalp micropigmentation) is the number one, permanent solution to any kind of hair loss. By delicately applying hundreds of microdots to your scalp using a fine needle and natural pigment, we are able to replicate the illusion of individual hair follicles.

Short answer is - anyone who is suffering from hair loss can benefit from scalp micropigmentation. Male or female you are eligible. Due to the technique being so versatile, we are able to treat male or female pattern hair loss, those suffering from alopecia and those wanting to conceal an existing scar. For more information and to find out if you are eligible, contact us today.

Most people are eligible for permanent makeup but there are a few contraindications that may prevent you from getting the treatment such as:

  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you are prone to keloid scarring
  • If you are on Accutane. Once you stop taking the treatment then you may be eligible

If you have any queries about contraindications and if you may have one, please contact us via a method that suits you so we can help and advise.

Like permanent makeup, most people are suitable for scalp micropigmentation. There are few things to consider when you have made the decision to go ahead with your treatment that may prevent you from getting it, such as:

  • Allergies to pigments (this is why we carry out a patch test)
  • Skin conditions in the area of application e.g. dermatitis
  • Unstable scarring

Scalp micropigmentation is much less invasive than a hair transplant and completely non-surgical. Rather than taking donor hair away from your scalp, scalp micropigmentation allows us to create the illusion of a fully shaved head with a digital machine and a pigment that is colour matched to your skin. This makes your results appear completely natural.

Laser tattoo removal is safe. However, as with any surgery
or surgical procedure, you need to be aware of the risks & contraindications. Treatment is strongly discouraged in the following cases:

  • Pregnancy
  • Sun exposure or artificial tanning
  • Sun sensitizing drops
  • Medical conditions such as epilepsy, diabetes, Hepatitis B or C and keloid scarring.

If you have any queries please contact us via a method that suits you.

We have seen brows of all shapes, styles, and colours, from blues and greens to reds and oranges, and sometimes a vibrant mix of them all! Due to our incredible laser tattoo removal system we are able to remove colours.

No more than traditional ones. The best part is that because the needles used are incredibly fine, it will hurt a lot less than a traditional tattoo.

Not necessarily. Body tattoos are not designed to fade over time.
